MTG FINAL FANTASY Starter Kit is built for two people who want to start playing Magic: The Gathering without building decks first. Inside are two fixed 60-card decks led by Cloud, Planet’s Champion and Sephiroth, Planet’s Heir, plus tokens, deck boxes, MTG Arena code cards in select regions, and a Play Guide to help new players get started.
What’s inside the MTG FINAL FANTASY Starter Kit?
The Starter Kit uses fixed contents rather than randomized booster packs. Each factory-sealed kit includes:
- 2 ready-to-play 60-card preconstructed decks
- 1 traditional foil legendary creature in each deck
- 5 non-foil new-to-Magic cards in each deck
- 54 non-foil cards from the main FINAL FANTASY set in each deck
- 4 non-foil double-sided tokens
- 2 MTG Arena code cards, available in select regions
- 2 deck boxes
- 1 Play Guide
Cloud vs. Sephiroth: two decks made for a first game
Wizards of the Coast describes the FINAL FANTASY Starter Kit as giving players everything needed to play a first game of Magic. One deck is led by Cloud, Planet’s Champion, while the other is led by Sephiroth, Planet’s Heir.
The Cloud deck is Red-White and the Sephiroth deck is Blue-Black. Both are preconstructed. Pick a deck, use the included Play Guide, and play against the other deck.
Can two people play right out of the box?
Yes. The kit includes two complete 60-card decks plus the basic accessories for a two-player match. It is a simple entry point for a FINAL FANTASY fan or a new student of Magic.
Each deck also comes with its own deck box, and the four double-sided tokens cover the token needs listed for the two starter decklists.

What are the new-to-Magic cards in the Starter Kit?
Each 60-card deck contains five non-foil cards that Wizards identifies as new to Magic. These cards were designed specifically for the Starter Kit.
Because the kit has fixed contents, it is a different experience from opening boosters. You know you are getting the Cloud and Sephiroth starter decks.
Starter Kit vs. Play Boosters: which should a beginner choose?
If the goal is to learn Magic and play immediately, the Starter Kit is the more direct option. The two decks are already assembled.
Play Boosters are randomized and are better suited to collecting and expanding decks. A new player does not need booster packs before using the Starter Kit.
Do MTG Arena codes come with the FINAL FANTASY Starter Kit?
Wizards lists two MTG Arena code cards with the Starter Kit, with availability limited to select regions. Regional availability can vary.
