Legendary Modern Decks 2026: Quick Comparison
Legendary Modern Decks 2026 gives you three complete strategies in one box: Sky Striker, X-Saber, and Mitsurugi. Each strategy approaches a Duel differently.
This guide compares the three playstyles so you can decide which one to sleeve up first.
Sky Striker deck: Best for Spell-heavy control
The Sky Striker deck is the most established modern strategy in the box. Sky Striker first appeared in Dark Saviors in 2018.
Konami notes that the strategy later reached the Top 4 of the 2025 Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship.
Its game plan centers on Sky Striker Ace – Raye, Link Summoning, and powerful Spell Cards. Many effects improve once three Spells reach the Graveyard.
This release also adds new support. Highlights include Sky Striker Ace – Camellia and Prototype Sky Striker Ace – Amatsu.
You also get Surgical Striker – S.P.E.C.T.R.A. and Combined Maneuver – Engage Zero!
Choose this strategy if you like resource management, flexible Spell Cards, and a deck with proven competitive history.
X-Saber deck: Best for Synchro fans
The X-Saber deck takes a more aggressive route. X-Sabers first appeared worldwide in 2009's Hidden Arsenal.
The archetype built its identity around swarming the field and Synchro Summoning. This version combines classic cards with new support and foil upgrades.
The strategy can pressure the field, attack the opponent's hand, and build toward powerful Synchro Monsters.
This strategy fits returning Duelists who remember the Synchro era. It also gives newer players a distinct style.
Choose the X-Saber deck if you enjoy combo lines, Synchro Summoning, and classic archetypes with updated support.
Mitsurugi deck: Best for Ritual gameplay
The Mitsurugi deck is the newest strategy of the three. Mitsurugi debuted in Supreme Darkness and focuses on Ritual Summoning.
Its Ritual Monsters reward you for Tributing other Ritual Monsters. The deck can replace resources while you continue your plays.
Konami also highlights its ability to work beside other modern themes. That gives the strategy room for future customization.
This strategy feels closest to newer competitive Yu-Gi-Oh! It offers a different rhythm from Sky Striker and X-Saber.
Choose the Mitsurugi deck if you enjoy Ritual Summoning, layered resource loops, and a newer tournament-focused archetype.
What comes in the box?
Each of the three decks contains 55 cards. You get 1 Secret Rare, 6 Ultra Rares, and 48 Commons.
Each deck also includes a bonus 56th card. That card is another copy of one of six cards from that deck.
The bonus card is normally a Secret Rare. It has a chance to upgrade to Starlight Rare instead.
Across the complete product, the set contains 168 cards. That includes 3 Secret Rares, 18 Ultra Rares, and 144 Commons.
It also includes 3 bonus Secret Rares. A Starlight Rare upgrade is possible, but it is not guaranteed.
Konami says each deck includes a full Main Deck and Extra Deck. The lists use doubles and triples of important cards.
They also include staple cards that can be useful beyond these three strategies.
Which deck should you play first?
Start with Sky Striker if you prefer control, Spell-heavy gameplay, and an established modern strategy.
Start with X-Saber if you enjoy Synchro Summoning, field swarming, and a classic Yu-Gi-Oh! archetype.
Start with Mitsurugi if you want Ritual Summoning, a newer strategy, and modern competitive roots.
You do not have to choose before buying. All three complete decks are included in the same box.
Who is this product for?
New players get three complete strategies without building decks from scratch. Returning players can try familiar and newer mechanics in one package.
Collectors also get multiple foil cards and three bonus Secret Rares. Competitive players can use the included staples and upgrade each strategy later.
The box works especially well for friends who want different playstyles. You can compare control, Synchro, and Ritual mechanics side by side.
